What Is Osteosarcoma?

Osteosarcoma, a form of Sarcoma is an aggressive, rare form of bone cancer. Osteosarcoma is typically more prevalent in boys aged 10-20 years. Data suggests there are 400 instances of this diagnosed yearly in the US and that it is known to claim limbs if not lives.

With an estimated 1,000 new cases of osteosarcoma diagnosed annually in the United States, it has become the third most common cancer in teens. Unfortunately, by the time it is diagnosed, osteosarcoma has spread beyond the initial site to the lungs in about 20% of patients.

The prognosis at this stage is not usually very promising with an approximate overall survival rate of 30%. The unfortunate truth is that treatment options haven’t advanced in over 35 years!

Can you imagine having to trust the life of your child to a treatment that was established over 35 years ago?

Children shouldn't battle osteosarcoma alone or be treated with old therapies. As parents, family and friends, we won't accept this fate for our children diagnosed. It's time to Fight. Fight for E.
